UK-based Plastics scrap trading firm GFSL will unveil a new mixed rigid plastic recycling plant at the Wilton International estate in Redcar.

The company's new plant will process about 20,000 tonnes of mixed rigid plastics annually with a specification of 50 to 80% HDPE/PP content and 20 to 40% PVC content.

According to GFSL, the mixed rigid plastics will be processed to create regrinds that will then be used in the production of a range of plastics products such as plastic furniture, pipes and pallets.

GFSL director Martin Robb said the new recycling plant will feature the fully-automated technology that will be helpful in recovering the three main streams from the mix - PVC, PE and PP as individual regrind fractions.

"We will be taking feedstock from civic amenity sites, skips and waste management companies, and we are still looking for additional suppliers from UK and Ireland," Robb added.

"There has been a lot of interest in the finished product from UK, Europe and further afield, and we are looking forward to increasing production over the next two months."

The new recycling plant has created employment opportunities for 17 people and another 10 jobs will also included as production increases, said the company.
